Worst service

Awful!!! My client ordered her dress October 22, 3017 for her wedding on August 11, 2018. She kept calling and getting the runaround about when her dress was going to be in. The manager is always “on the phone with someone”, just “took someone in to her office”. She would rarely return phone calls. I called to get answers. I was on hold for 58 minutes and then they hung up on me. I called back was put on hold for 45 more minutes. In the meantime, the manager left for the day! She knew I was on hold. After all of that, an employee told me they only talk to the bride. They knew I wasn’t the bride and I was calling to get answers to help relieve the stress for my bride! It was always - “ We don’t know when it’ll be here.” “The manager will call you.” “We don’t have access to that information.” The manager never did her job! The dress came in 3 weeks before the wedding! They stated they only needed 1 week for alterations. 4 weeks before the wedding, my bride went to a different store and they bent over backwards for her. We could not count on House of Brides based on other reviews. We were very disappointed in the company, lack of answers and lack of guidance. It should not have taken 9 months to get a dress. They are money hungry and don’t care about the brides. The staff is rude and poorly trained. They will argue with you if confronted about anything that is amiss. It’s sad that a company like this is still in business. The manager needs to be fired. She is not competent enough to work with the public and vendors. She is a sorry, poor excuse for a businesswoman.

Do not even BOTHER with this terrible excuse for a bridal salon. I was happy in the beginning with the overall service because Sierra was there and unfortunately was the only thing good about this place. She quit (and was my consultant) and since then I have not been able to get a hold of ANYONE! They said my bridesmaids dresses would be here 4-6 weeks before the wedding. Well, my wedding is June 30 and there's still no call, no email, NOTHING. I have to ship out 2 of my dresses to out of state, one of them being pregnant. When my sister in law to be called stating she was hoping she can order more fabric since she's pregnant, Sierra said she'd request the order for more. When she called them back to ask about it, Sierra NEVER put the order in for more fabric and the supervisor told her it was her problem, not theirs. That the bride (me) and her (my sister in law) would have to figure out where to get the fabric or deal with it on our own. How HORRIBLE that you offer no solution, you avoid phone calls, no tracking numbers are provided, and you never return calls back for people who have paid you SEVERAL dollars for their big day. This is just a giant joke of a place. Also, my sister in law's brother's wedding dealt with the same thing. Dresses a "month in advance" didn't show up until 2 weeks before. I am sorry but I have NEVER had any bridesmaid dress take more than 6 months to get. I've never had such an awful experience before and this place just needs to be SHUT DOWN so anyone else can avoid coming here and just being completely disappointed. There is something VERY VERY wrong with the people that work here and this place. DO NOT GO HERE and save yourself the TROUBLE, MONEY, AND STRESS! I PROMISE YOU, IT WILL NOT END WELL.

I can not stress enough DO NOT GO HERE. Dress arrived late. Was not there in time for the wedding date I gave them. (Ordered in September 2017 for a May 2018 wedding) There is no customer service or corporate accountably. I emailed "support" several times with no response. Manager disregarded my concerns. Would not return my calls. Had to drive in to speak with her in person, only to find out that the dress was no where to be found. At this point it was about a week till my wedding date.. She did not apologize. When the dress finally came in. Post wedding date. They then said I had to pay the balence for the dress in cash ( the 75% I put down was credit) they would not refund the down payment or give any discount, even though the dress was late for the wedding. Nothing on any receipt, said the balence had to be cash. I beg any bride to go anywhere but here. I do not want anyone to ever have to go though what I did.

I was a walk in customer looking for a dress to attend a wedding. I wanted something off the rack. The sales woman was very helpful. She pulled many dresses to try. I finally found one. All is well! I set up a fitting appointment for alterations. I arrived and checked in. The sales women said nothing about the seamstress running late. The seamstress did not come out to get me. 15 min went by. I asked the sales women how much longer she would be. They then told me she wasn't even at work. They called her. She said she could be there in 10 min. She had the wrong day on her schedule. She arrived thankfully. Had a final fitting scheduled 2weeks later. 12:30 appointment. First of day has to be on time right??? No one was there to open the store. Customers who had appointments were waiting 30-40 min. The staff was there but no key holder to let us in! I guess the key holder decided To ditch work. Many angry customers left that day. Needless to say I won't ever return! Unprofessional.

Walked into the Downers Grove location because my friend found her dress from there and had nothing but good things to say so I thought I would go in and check out the dress in the window. Walked in excited and overwhelmed and asked if someone could direct me where to look (since it was my first time looking). The lady at the desk told me "This is a Bridal Salon, everyone has their own consultant and everyone is busy" REALLY? I'm in a Bridal Salon?? Thanks so much for telling me. I left crying. Worst customer service ever. That last should be fired ruining such an exciting moment for me.

The only reason I am giving one star is because they make you. I had nothing but problems from payment not being applied to my dress, to rudeness, to being misinformed. I finally called today to tell them I would like to have my card refunded and I would be going else where with my business. That was after I was hung up on 9 times, without even getting to say one word. When I finally got to talk to someone, the MANAGER Joann, told me i was an "unrealist B****". If that isn't unprofessional enough, she only agreed to refund me back when I told her if she did not, I would be there tonight, and have a lawyer with me. She also informed me that there is no one higher than her for me to talk to. The way I have been treated is completely and utterly disrespectful, unprofessional, and unethical! I have no words for the amount of disrespect I feel from this store. I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone, and instead will make sure to WARN them about the experience I had gone through with this company. This goes to show, when people tell you a company is horrible, 9 times out of 10 you should listen. In this instance, I should have listened.

I recommend no one and I mean no one go to house of brides. For bridesmaid dresses I had so many problems with them. Dealing with different girls there. Only one girl knew what she was doing. My bridesmaids paid there dresses off in March and they NOW JUST came in. MY WEDDING IS IN TWO WEEKS! They still need to do alterations. They have to drive about 40 mins to a different house of brides Bc they don't have anyone to do it. My sister went to go pick up the dresses and they couldn't find some of the dresses. My sister asked for a manger and they said one isn't here. She asked for her number, or email they wouldn't give it to her. Then my sister said give me corporate's number the lady said google it. My sister went off and had to be walked out. The lady called me asking if that was my sister and I said yes. She was like do you want a mangers number I said no I'm calling corporate Bc I've had so many problems and she got upset and hung up on me.

They immediately took my money for a dress they advertised, but do not have. In fact, according to ***, they don't actually have ANY dresses. "We receive most of our goods from the designers direct. Items may become unavailable or be discontinued by the designer without notification to us. We must have payment on orders prior to submitting them to the designers. Designers alone confirm availability of their goods. We are not a catalog warehouse that stores all of the goods available on our site." The trouble is, I will have a very difficult time buying a prom dress for my daughter now that the money I set aside for this purchase is tied up with House of Brides for up to 30 days!

Below is a wordy, but thorough, explanation of why I do not recommend House of Brides: After I found the right dress on The Knot, I searched for a retailer via the Dessy website and happened upon House of Brides in downtown Chicago. I went to the store and tried on the couple of dress options I narrowed down to a few dress options. After going into the store, I collected all the measurements from my bridesmaids who are located all around the US, none of which live in Chicago. I then sent a detailed matrix to my contact at House of Brides. She then called each bridesmaid individually to confirm their measurements and tell them the dress size she was going to order for them based on the designer’s (Dessy/Albert Sung) website. Soon after the House of Brides representative called each bridesmaid, I started receiving phone calls and texts from each of my eight bridesmaids, each very concerned at the large sizes that were being suggested to them. I called the House of Brides representative to let her know of my bridesmaid’s concerns and to inquire that the sizes are in fact true. I also asked what size it was that I had tried on (I am typically a 6/8 in regular dresses. The House of Brides representative told me I tried on a 10 at the store, which fit with room to spare). I then let my bridesmaids know that I, too, had to wear a larger than normal size and not to worry: the House of Brides representative would ensure they are ordering the right size. Shortly after the dresses arrived to one my bridesmaids, I received a frantic call from her. She informed me that her dress was huge, at least 2 – if not more – sizes too big. I asked her to take pictures of herself in it – the dress looks like a muumuu. Not a single part of the dress is wearable. She will have to have the entire dress reconstructed. This was very upsetting to me. When the next bridesmaid put on her dress, I had a similar call. The same is true for all EIGHT of my bridesmaids – each one is going to have to have the dress significantly altered and a majority of them will have to be completely reconstructed. The reason I went with House of Brides was because I saw a dress boutique as the liaison between me and the designer. I trusted the boutique to know how the dress designer’s dresses actually fit – and to order the dresses accordingly. It is completely understandable to need to do a simple length alteration, but I think the fact that each of the eight dresses has to be significantly altered is unacceptable! Avoid House of Brides.

My wife bought a dress at a great price. The next day we get a call saying that they don't actually have the dress we bought in stock and that they would be refunding our money shortly. 15 days go by without word or repayment, so we call and are told that we would have our money by the end of the month. This process is repeated several times for the next few months. Each time we call, we get the run around and false promises. Finally after four months, our bank stepped in and forced House of Brides to return our money.

Still Have Not Seen a Refund

My fiance ordered a dress from their website, paid in full, and then was told the product was no longer in stock. She requested a refund, and they had no problem saying a refund was coming. It just never did. I called two weeks ago to check on the status and while they sound sincere on the phone, this company is out to scam people. They beat around the bush telling you they will make a "ticket" and request the refund be processed, but we're now over the 30 days they say it can take to receive a refund. Don't ever do business with these people, as from a little online investigation, this happens very frequently. We're going to be fighting this charge at her bank, and if that doesn't help, we will be filing for a class action lawsuit. It's not about the $160, but more about how this company chooses to operate. This fraudulent activity has happened to too many people, and someone needs to do something about this.

Your dream dress will become your dress nightmare.

I received my dress exactly 4 days before my wedding. No I am not kidding. The dress I received was poor quality and all wrinkled up. The jacket that they claimed was my size was way too small, so that was a waste. I had to contact their customer several time threw email. They did respond and even called me bc they wanted sub the tiara that I ordered that for some reason the designer did not have in stock for another one that they had in stock which I had no clue what it looked but I ok the sub since I had so little time to get my dress in. I had no time for alterations so my wedding day was a constant pulling up and on my dress. Do not use this website.

Bride still w/o a dress 2 months before my wedding

I ordered my dress from HOB on January 28, 2015 and I checked back in May and the anticipated ship date from the manufactures to HOB was for the end of May!! As it it now the middle of July and I have still yet to here anything and cannot recieive a refund and or do I have a dress! When I spoke to someone she told me certain manufactures could take up to 26 weeks to and I have surpassed that time and still have no dress!! I have cried and cried and called them everyday these people truly are heartless and cruel and don't understand how stressful it is to be a bride let alone have to worry about the stresses of if you dress will come and if not what will be your second option!!!! AVOID THIS SITE AT ALL COST!!!!!!!!
